I thought I wanted the new GMC Canyon as my next 4WD/Utility vehicle, but that is giving me pause.
I might have to start looking for one soon.
Can one easily swap the AMC/Jeep I6, or do they already have that engine.
I don't really want a V8.

I believe they are I6, I don't think they were available with 8's.

Most of them came with the 4.2L I6 - some did come with a 4 cyl. though.
Obviously, do not get the 4 cyl. one!

Also: note that they came with the 4.2L six, which is a slightly older version of the Jeep 4.0L six. Still a damn good engine.

Yeah, I read up on Wiki.
If I had the funds, I think I'd try to do a Jeep Liberty diesel+turbo+manual swap into one.
Should nearly bolt right up.

Yesterday I drove by a house with an AMC wagon, and an Aztek in the drive way. All All I could think is "they must really like awkward looking SUVs."

I just got gome and I'm standing outside smoking a cigarette when one of these passes my house. Weird.
